Suba Parmar

Guru Smt. Suba Parmar, Founder and Artistic Director of Shubanjali School of Performing Arts (1992), is a highly sought after dancer, teacher and choreographer. She is the direct disciple of Kalaimamani Guru Indra Rajan and Pandanallur Srinivasa Pillai, respected doyens of the Pandanallur tradition. Guru Suba is recognized as a pioneer in the arts community and her original artistic creations have received rave reviews from critics and connoisseurs. Some of the prestigious awards that she has received are US Presidential Scholars’ “Most Influential Teacher Award”, the Balasaraswathi Award of Excellence from MauthamizhPeravai, the “New Jersey NaatyaKalanidhi” and the most recent “Lifetime Achievement Award'' from Spandana, NJ. Shubanjali's laurels extend beyond teaching, and the organization has received many accolades for its exemplary and original dance productions. Nayana Sujith will be the 111th arangetram of Guru Smt. Suba Parmar in the US, a testimony to her dedication and love for this artform.

Swamimalai Suresh

Guru Shri Swamimalai K. Suresh, Director of Samarpana Academy of Fine Arts, Chennai and Co-Artistic Director, Shubanjali, hails from a traditional family of nattuvanars and musicians. His father and guru Pandanallur P.V. Kalidas is a renowned Nadaswara vidwan, of the Pandanallur lineage. Guru Swamimalai K. Suresh is a fifth generation artist from his family and an accomplished dancer, singer, choreographer and nattuvanar. He is the grand nephew and disciple of veteran Guru Swamimalai S.K. Rajarathnam and recipient of several prestigious awards including KanchiKamakotipeetam Astana Vidwan title from KanchiShankaracharyar, Ustad Bismillah Khan YUVA PURASKAR from SangeetNatak Academy, Natya Sangeetha Kala Bharathi from Bharat Kalachar, Chennai and the most recent “Service Award” from Spandana, NJ.
